This shrine on the Mohawk territory of Kahnawake, in the Saint-François-Xavier mission (1720), is dedicated to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the first North American Aboriginal woman to be canonized, on October 12, 2012. The Manoir d’Youville site is located on Île Saint-Bernard, a former Châteauguay seigneury. This historic site, with one of the oldest mills in North America (1686), boasts an enchanting setting on the banks of the Châteauguay River and Lake Saint-Louis, as well as a wildlife refuge.
